Stock Exhaust Removal
Stock Exhaust Removal
For those that have removed the exhaust system yourselves; Did you get the stock off without a lift or did jack stands make it?
Corsa going on as soon as time permits!

I removed mine without a lift and no stands or ramps.
It was tricky getting it over the axle but after a little bit of twisting and turning, I managed to get the stock system out from under the truck.

I did mine with $30 ramps from Pep Boys. Make sure you loosen both the clamp at the y-pipe & the clamp at the muffler inlet. You then need to rotate the pipe due to the *****ing annoying key on the pipe. If you take the mid-pipe off, it is also much easier.

I got mine off with nothing but 2 wrenches and a screwdriver, on my flat driveway. No ramps. It only had 700 miles on it, but regardless...it was a little tricky getting it off the axle, but all in all about 20 minutes worth of work.

You may need jack stands to keep the new one in place as you line up the hangers, though.
I got mine off using my jack stands. One bit of advice -- my factory system had a pin-and-slot mechanism on it that I did not know about in advance. It required me to rotate the entire system slightly to disengage the assembly. Had I known about this in advance the removal of my system would have gone much smoother.
Here is the pin in the factory system:

Here is the slot that the pin engages with:

Here is the factory system removed intact:

Good luck!

Thanks to all! I'll make a try at getting this done as soon as I can. Its hard to walk by those boxes in the garage! I went with corsa for the flow and, hopefully the quiet as I plan a supercharger shortly. I was supprised at the quality of the tips on the corsa. I've never seen any tips that thick. High $ though.
