Question another simple exhaust question

I have never done or had someone else do exhaust work on anything. So I have a simple question. My stock pipe is 2.5". Is it possible to weld a tip with a 3" diameter inlet onto the 2.5" pipe? This would seem pretty simple to me since that's only a 1/4" gap.

Thanks for the help.

You can get a tip that is 3 inches but had a pipe inlet size of 2.5 inches.

Anybody with any welding experience will be able to weld it on for you. It's not a very big gap to fill. I've done it many times, but it would be better to get the size that fits. But I do realize that sometimes you have to work with what you have or can get.
