Crazy to try a Magnaflow #12568 or #14468????

Well, this is what I am thinking. First have the pipes from the headers go directly into a Magnaflow(with cats) that has two incomming pipes (I am assuming the pipes from the headers are 2.5?) I am assuming this would work and may be more efficient than stock with the nice Magnaflow sound. The mufflers I am thinking about are the Tru X perforated core ones.

Then have two pipes come out before the rear tire, one on each side. I guess some would call it dumped. The #12568 is longer and bigger and would probable be quieter.

I am just thinking about how to make the straighest way of venting exhaust from the headers.

I would put in an actual X before the muffler and use a dual path, non crossing muffler. Run the two pipes out to the back and out either side (or on the same side). This is, of course, assuming you have room for it.

Putting an X inside a perforated muffler just ends up with a lot of turbulance. The X-pipe is a nice way to increase midrange and top end power as well as making the engine sound great (gives it more of a nice sounding "shriek").

What about a simple Y collector going into a single entry Magnaflow muffler that is centerline and then one simple tube going out infront of the rear wheel. Is having an X better? What i the benefit of having an X????

A Y pipe is for putting 2 pipes into one. An X pipe is for people who wanta true dual exhaust. The actual X evens out the pressures and other things between the two pipes and gives better performance over two seperated pipes. I do not exactly know why connecting the two pipes helps, but it does.

Plus an X makes the exhaust have a nice howl to it, where a Y ends up more as a burble.
