Cool V6 with flowmaster?

I have a 99 F150 with the 4.2L engine. I want to get the super 40 series by flowmaster. My brother put it on his truck and it sounded great nice rumble when idling and when taking off showed that throat and power trucks should have, he did have a 5.7L dodge :/ which is a big difference then my little 4.2. anyways i was wondering if anyone has heard a 4.2 with this series exaust and if not with any flowmaster at that. Im trying to avoid that high pitch riceburner sound so if you think it wont sound right then please let me know i plan on ordering this within the next 2 weeks if i dont get any negative feedback. oh i will be dumoing the exaust as well if that makes a difference in sound.

I had a 40 series on a 4.0L explorer one time, and it sounded great. NOthing like the little ricers backfiring fart machines all over the road

I wouldn't do it. My girlfriend has a 2002 F150 4.2L. The guy she bought it from had put a 50 Series Flowmaster on it and it sounded like garbage. Very ricey. A 40 Series would just be a louder version of that. It will sound nothing like a Dodge V8. I put a Magnaflow on my girlfriend's truck and it sounds a lot smoother and deeper than the Flowmaster. It also woke up the low end of the truck quite a bit in comparison with the Flowmaster. I just put a dumped Magnaflow on my truck this morning and I love it. Deep and smooth, and better low end than Flowmaster or IMCO (I've had both on this truck.)

I had a 92 Explorer with a 40 series flowmaster, sounded great, just to loud for the neighborhood. Cabin noise was bad also.

I do hear that an aftermarket CAI can make a 4.2 dual sound less ricey. Only reason I know it is because I have a 2002 4x2, have installed an aftermarket CAI and am now looking to due a SIDO exhaust system with Flowmaster 50's.

I learned the hard way at 17 that you wanted a quiet car, not one that everyone knew who just left!

I have the Flowmaster Super 40 on my 4.6 and also have it on my 5.4. Sounds great on both trucks. I'm not sure how it will sound on a 4.2 though. But don't expect it to even come close to sounding the same as on a Dodge. IMO everything always seems to sound way better on a Dodge. For example, a buddy of mine has the 50 series on his 5.7, and it sounds way better and throatier on his truck than the Super 40 sounds on my 5.4.
