Headers, highflow cats, and straights for 2005 5.4

I have a 2005 FX4 5.4L and i wanted to get some headers but i have been having trouble finding some and don't know what kind to get. i was hoping somone could help me out and if they are really worth it. also i was wondering if it would be worth it to put some highflow cats on and straight pipes to really add some noise because i had a flowmaster american thunder series on my 04 FX4 and i could hardley hear it and my friends made fun of me because it was so quiet so i want something loud and don't care if its legal or not.

Well, if it's a 2WD, PaceSetter makes some longtubes, don't know the quality though. Other than that, your choices are JBA or Gibson. I put the JBAs on my truck, and love them, after the fact...it was a pain to install, but I did it all by myself, and had lots of time so I made sure I did it right and wouldn't have to get back in there. I didn't want it excessively loud, so I can't help ya there, but the headers made quite a difference in sound...I'm sure with some high flow cats it'd flow real well...and of course straight pipes will probably be pretty loud.

Where can you get pacesetter headers? I wonder how much a shop would charge to install them.

Headers with Magnaflow hi flow cats and a Magnaflow muffler would probably help maximize any other future mods you are thinking of.

I hear there are 4 cats, are there two coming off each header? or are they after where the tubes from the headers meet?

Not 4 cats. If anything, it's 2 cats and 2 resonators...but from what I remember when I installed mine, it's just one unit, so unless the resonator is inside, it's only 2 cats, one on each side.

I was told today by the guys putting on my Stage 2 kit from TP that there is not a whole lot of benefit from putting headers on these newer trucks. They said the exhaust ports are small and that the stock headers move enough air for the smaller exhaust ports. Troyer Performance has some JBA shorties for the newer F150's.
Good Luck

I don't have dyno before and after, but I know it did what I wanted it to (I mean hell, we always want more HP/TQ out of any mod we do). Check my gallery (camera next to vehicle) to see pics of the stock exhaust manifold compared to JBA header -- the header has 4 runners, one for each port down to the collector, the stock exhaust manifold has 1 runner with each port dumping into it. The JBA headers would theoretically flow at least twice the air, if not more IMO.
