Gibson Cat-back exhaust, change muffler to manga-flow????

Hello Everyone,

I purchased a Gibson cat-back exhaust before I became a member to this site and realized that magna-flow is the way to go. I don't want to take the Gibson off because of the cost of the system. I also don't really like the sound of the Gibson, way to quiet. Will just changing the muffler to a magna-flow help? I would imagine that the tubing that came with the Gibson exhaust wouldn't affect the performance. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The tubing may not make a difference, but I think you might be better off just selling or Ebaying your gibson and the ordering the Magna flow kit, it would simplify your install, however best of luck which ever route you take, Josh

you are in the exact same posistion I was in.

I had the Gibson Dual Sport on my truck and it was way too quiet!

I just had a muffler shop cut out the Gibson muffler and clamp in a IMCO Extreme muffler in its place. They were able to re-use the stainless steel Gibson tailpipes. It was a simple and cheap swap.

It sounds way better now...no comparison at all to the Gibson. Gibson sucks!

Mine is very loud now and has a throaty rumble...especially when I get on it!

I know what you mean about wasting money on the Gibson system...mine cost me 500 bucks three years ago. But if you don't like it, then you need to change it...at least that is what I say.

Thanks Dar-Dar. I didn't want to change the whole system because, like you said, it was $500 and it cost me another $300 to get it installed because they guy used nickle welding rod so the welds wouldn't rust. I think I'm going to just find a Magnaflow muffler that will replace the gibson and go that route. Thanks again.
