Need advice on exhaust and cat!!!!

Im new to this forum, just wanted to know if I install a y-pipe, will I have to take off the cat where the pipes connect. Any advice will help!

No...there are actually two cats and two pre-cats. They are located about 6 inches below the stock exhaust manifolds on each side. The first one is the pre-cat, the second is the cat. The pipes then Y together under the passenger side.

IMO...take your truck to a locally owned performance exhaust shop that carries Magnaflow. Have them cut off the stock Y pipe. Run dual 2.5" pipe into a 2.5" dual in/2.5" dual out Magnaflow muffler (get stainless if possible). Then run the 2.5" exit pipes out to each corner at 45* angles. Top them off with a couple of 2.5" to 3" rolled tip Magnaflow stainless tips.

If you live in a larger city/area, shop around. Some places can be a rip-off, others quite reasonable. If you can't find one, Meineke Muffler is somewhat reasonable, but you have to tell / coach them along.

thanx man this setup sounds nice. the reason I asked this Q was bcause I want my truk to scream, man. some guy told me if I would remove the cat that connects the 2 pipes N put in a y-pipe it will sound way better Thanx again man
