Flowmaster, IMCO, or Magnaflow?
I've read many different opinons about differnt mufflers and systems. I was wondering if the advantage of Magnaflow that everyone seems to be talking about is really that noticable? I'm willing to sacrifice 5 or so hp for a louder deeper sounding exhaust(Flowmaster). I am running open headers right now and must say I love the sound(sets off every alarm) but it might be too loud for even me. Am I loosing a substantial amount of power by doing this? I would like to run no or hollowed out cats into an X-pipe into dual mufflers. Any help picking a muffler or suggestions on this setup is greatly appreciated. I am thinking about the IMCO one chambers because I have heard they offer power gains and are loud. Does the size of the tips make a difference? Thanks for any and all help.
The tips will differentiate the sound somewhat, yes. I have no personal knowledge of IMCO, actually had never heard of them till I came here. I use flowmaster 40 series and love it. Its loud, especially under full load, but it doesn't drone you out at cruising speeds.
If you are not buying a cat-back system, don't worry about performance. It's a crap shoot on how much it will change by swapping the muffler. Buy the one that sounds the best to you, or that is the cheapest.
