Looking for good exhaust solution of 05 Lariat..
SSpiro, you can always intall the DOR #16614 system and have a shop do the final bend on the Maggie system. There is no cat-back system that comes out on an angle like that. Only custom systems.
Okay, Navi98... you poor, misinformed soul
You need to read through this:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...=silly+baffles
And if you think, after having read that, that Mike Troyer does not know his stuff, you are beyond help.
He's tested ALL of them - and he uses only Magnaflow on these F-150's, and all his own trucks. And on his '04 Cobra. Yup - he knows Mustangs too.
If you actually took the time to Search & learn about exhaust flow dynamics, you'd stop dispensing BS and factless rhetoric. And, truck applications are unique in their requirements that low-end torque be preserved. A ricer, and even a light car like the GT's, have diferent torque characteristics and requirements, so don't use them as comparisons.
Hopefully for you it's not too late for further education.
. If it is, well, go have a cold one and stick to your "silly little baffled" P.O.S SuckMasters
Ooops - almost forgot again - DO a Search !!! - For 'you-know-who'
Cheers

Now, I don't know Mr. Troyer, nor will I ever personally since I am down in Atlanta. I have no doubt that he has an extensive knowledge in his applications. And I am never closed to new and better information about anything. My saying is lie, I learn a little about a lot, not a lot about a little. Which basically means, I want to know a little bit about everything, and not everything about something.
I have a good friend that owns a custom exhaust shop. He built mine with me since he has a pipe bender and I don't. But when I read whats written by all these folks, alot of it contradicts itself. Take for instance my application vs two of my other cars
1998 Lincoln Navigator 4X4 5.4l 2V
Horsepower: 230 hp Max Horsepower: 4250 rpm
Torque: 325 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 3000 rpm
1986 Ford Mustang GT 5.0l
200 HP @ 4000 RPM
285 ft/lb @ 3000 RPM
1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0l
225 HP @ 4000 RPM
300 ft/lb @ 3000 RPM
Now, the benefit from flowmasters are highly noticable on the 89. But, I can't really give you a good feel of just the exhaust mod, since this car wasn't built like others with exhaust first. When I finally did the exhaust right, I already had ported/polished heads, TFS intake, cam, and valve springs, cobra injectors and so on. I added when I did the exhaust a set of BBK longtubes, a shorty H-Pipe and a set of off the shelf Raptor mufflers. I was, disappointed to say the least. Chopped off the raptors, which were very loud, and changed to flowmaster 40 series, and the difference was astounding. The sounds hadn't changed, but the flow had changed signifigantly.
I was flowing about 50cfm better with the Flowmasters. That sold me on flowmaster forever. My 1986 is stock, with 60K miles, so I am not going to modify it. But my Nav was in dire need of something, so the exhaust was first this time. I had two options that my buddy had stocked. Flowmaster, or Magnaflow. (I got everything at wholesale cost) The Flowmasters were going to be $49 each. We'd then build a custom setup. The magnaflow cat-back was going to be $480, no labor included. I ended up spending $250 on pipe, two magnaflow cats, and 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and got from maifold back. (and some atlanta motor speedway tickets, but I don't pay for those anyway) So from what I see, pricewise, there wasn't even a choice to be made, it was obvious. I saw the gains in performance and gas milage, and I don't think that magnaflow could have done a better job for the more money. THen came a blower and its great.
Again though, everyone has their own opinion of everything, developed from experiences with the product. SOme swear by one, some swear by the other. For me, a combination of price, performance, availability and a strong brand name have played the largest role. In the end though, I see the guy who posed the question has made the right decision

Okay. Well said, and I respect your decisions.
Me, on my '88 GT ragtop ( mostly stock, with pullies, 3.27's and a 5 speed) I put on dual hiflow Maggie SS cats, Maggie SS mufflers and an X-pipe. Mike recommends X's over H's, as close to the front (and the cats) as possible. Enormous difference over the stock arrangement, and sounds very nice indeed.
On my 2000 F150, I ended up with a 3" SS Maggie SISO system. Also finally got rid of that chitty factory Y pipe. Had a Gibson - this is way better.
My apologies - a fellow Mustang guy can't be all that bad. Beer's on me. I retract my somewhat inflamed response earlier
Let's agree to disagree. At some point, if you have time, give Mr. Troyer a call and discuss exhausts with him.
Holy crap, I must be gettin' old - I actually apologized for something I said.
Well, not entirely - my position on exhaust flow dynamics stands
Cheers

Anyone see any issues with the exhaust setup this way? I don't think I've seen any with the dual rear angled?

I can do that
I tried several routes with troyer, and I think that he is just to busy to deal with someone like me so far away. I was going to get a program from him for a chip, but it took a lil over 2 weeks for a response, and in that time I had to go elsewhere.
Anyways, carry on....

Maybe I'll just do it straight back..
