Jaso,
Where'd you get yours done? I live in Havasu and I'm VERY limited in choices of shops. I'd be willing to travel a little and make a day of it...

I went to a local muffler shop and had them install the same 3" catback system as magnaflow's 16612. They used 3" piping in front of a 5x8x18" magnaflow muffler (lifetime warranty included). I had them buy and install a 3" mandrel bent pipe for the tail pipe. Total price including everything welded, labor and tip was $240.00. It is all aluminized, every car or truck I have owned, some longer then 10 years has been with no problems.

Bye the way, I have the stock muffler and piping on the floor in my shop, I am not quite sure it is stainless steel. That would be way too expensive for Ford to use on these trucks. Seems funny to me they would install a stainless steel muffler/ piping setup then make the door for the gas tank out of plastic. I could be and have been known to be wrong in the past..

apache muffler in mesa arizona will set u up just fine. if u get ahold of a phoenix area phonebook u can probably find a similar price at a west valley shop, but i will definitely vouch for apache muffler.

here, here . same performance, same lifespan, same muffler, same warranty, very different price. come on people you've just got to believe. i dont think the stock system is stainless either. way to expensive for mass production.

For Example

1998 Lincoln Navigator systems from Summit Racing

Flowmaster Force II System $303.99
Gibson Swept Side Exhaust Systems $561.99
MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust Kits $459.99

It makes no sense to me to buy the over priced reputation inflated names of Gibson and Magnaflow. I bet bagel to dollars that my system, but by two rookies with a pipe bender and an immagination, will out perform all three of those, but the later two by the greatest varience
I have you in years, and I can tell you, I have been using Gibson since 1998 in off road racing rigs. I can guarantee rookies with a pipe bender cant beat it if a team of 6 veteran mechanic/racers cant. As for Magnaflow, I know alot of people in the muscle car industry who have used ME for years, and will lay down their pink slip for them.

Dont mean to disrespect you, but I needsome statistics in order to even consider believing a claim like that.

Concerning performance of Stainless vs Aluminum: How could performance differ? When we are talking performance of an exhaust system, we are talking about the aility of air to move freely through the system. If you have two mufflers, with identical baffling, size and structure, just made of two materials which only differ in tensil strength and weight,...... ...... ..... how exactly, with the exception of added weight, could one outperform the other?

I agree 100%. The Magnaflow SISO system for the new trucks has been DYNO PROVEN to produce more HP and TORQUE. Can you make the same claim of your system built by 2 rookies and a pipe bender?

As far as performance of stainless vs aluminized, there is NO difference in performance. The question you have to ask yourself is which would you rather have? Even you guys running aluminized exhaust have to agree that you would RATHER have stainless.

I agree nothing, If I thought I wanted or needed some stainless steel under my truck I would of bought some for it. Why would I buy aluminized if I would rather have stainless? I guess I bought a Ford but really wanted a Hummer??

You answered the reason in the first part of your statement, "As far as performance of stainless vs aluminized, there is No difference in performance".

Exactly my point. To ME the stainless steel kit PROVEN to give performance gains was worth the extra $200. To others it may not be.

You said earlier that you had a muffler shop give you the EXACT same thing as the Magnaflow 16612 system for your truck, but they had to BUY a mandrel bent pipe for the tailpipe. If it was really the same it would have been stainless and completely mandrel bent.

There's nothing wrong with taking the cheap way out, but don't try to claim your cheap way is somehow better than all the kits out there. That's just rediculous.

you must be a wanne be politician, your really good at twisting things around and putting words in people's mouth..

My set up is completely mandrel bent, not one (let this sink in), not one bend was added during the install. I just said it wasn't stainless and that I didn't need stainless.

You were the one who said that with aluminized or stainless the performance is the same. I don't care if it was the stainless that was dyno'ed, if both setups are the same except for material make they will be pretty close in performance.
As for taking the cheap way out, I bought what I wanted and got what I bought. I never once (let this sink in again)......... ,not once said that it was better then any kit out there. You are just rediculous....

I'm thinking that if I bought aluminized but really wanted stainless (as you say) that you must of really wanted a big red firetruck..

I am hoping you can take some of what you dish out with a smile on your face, remember your only here for a visit, the world should be your playground..

if performance is the same and the warranty is the same, wich u have already conceded then i think the less expensive way out would be more accurate. nobody has claimed any system is better than the other just the same except for looks. the kits look much nicer. but since i'm unable to ride around popping wheelies this does not concern me, so i took the less expensive way out. just letting people know there are alternatives out there to these ( in my opinion) overpriced kits.

Someone above made a comment about Ford having a plastic gas lid as if it was to save cost. The reason it is plastic is to try to cut down on static eclectricity around gas fumes. The comment in refernce to stainless exhaust has no revelance at all.

Does it really matter? Its just a matter of preference. If you are in an area where you are not in fear of material breakdown due to weather or other road materials, then what it boils down to is what you want.
I would have to agree with the statement, if I wanted X, I would have got X.

To each their own.

Just my 2/5ths a nickel.

I'd question this. Doesn't make sense to me. It's not like gas flows THROUGH the lid. If was superior in safety, every car woud have a plastic lid because it IS also less expensive. No reason to use steel at all.

I desparatly want a Magnaflow stainless SISO. I will only get the kit because I want stainless AND Mandrel Bends. No exhaust shops around here can offer those things reasonably. Any aftermarket exhaust I've ever been privy to has rusted out after 4-5 years, if not the tube, then the welds. I want to avoid this.

A couple of things though, someone keeps saying that the kit needs altered to fit. I've only heard glowing reviews of the product and it's installation. Is this true?
Also, stainless finish? Never heard of that. It's stainless steel, or it's not. Aluminizaton is a surface treatment of normal steel. There is no process to add a "stainless finish" to normal steel.
