Magnaflow cons??
Magnaflow cons??
I'm wanting to get a new cat-back system to replace the stock system in my '05 F150 SCrew and have been leaning toward the magnaflow 16612. It's OK if it sounds deep, throaty and all, but I don't want it cavitating into the cabin if I can help it. I'm wanting a system that would help the performance of the truck more than anything--maybe improved torque, mpg possibly, and hp. I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to the magnaflow. Or if there are other options I may not be aware of--then I'm open for any suggestions.
The best way to improve performance is with Troyer tunes - both torque and hp. If your worried about noise, don't change the exhaust. There are no drawbacks to the Magnaflow, but I think it is louder than generally described.
already looking into some Troyer tunes, but I'm so close to buying a magnaflow, I want to hear some good reasons why I should leave it stock or try something else. $400-$500 is a good chunk o' change for an exhaust, and I want to make sure that I hear all the "bad stuff" before making a purchase.
tmilam,
I just put the 16612 on my 05' supercrew on Friday, (took less than an hour btw). I too was concerned about the noise, but I have to say I am very pleased with the sound. Light/normal throttle, I barely notice the difference. When you take off from standstill or "punch" it while driving you get a very authoritative grumble that to me is louder than stock but not annoying. My wife actually said it sounded nice
