Best Muffler?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello.. First time Ford owner here (Just bought my 03 Sport 5.4) and new to the forum.

I was just wondering if many people just went with a muffler opposed to a whole new exhaust system. I am looking to go the budget route while trying to make my truck sound deeper. I definatly do not want to gimp my truck in any way, what is a good muffler to have welded on my stock system that makes a 5.4 sound great? Also I plan on getting a K&N air intake system along with a muffler.
Any good intake/muffler combo's out there for sound quality (not hillbilly loud)???

Any and all replies are appreciated, TY for your time.

The first thing I did when I got my truck new, was add a K&N and swap out the factory muffler for a Flowmaster. It never stops at that though as you constantly read something here that sounds good, you agree with, then go and do it. I recently changed out the exhaust to eliminate the very restrictive factory Y-pipe and went with dual pipes into a dual inlet Flowmaster with single 3" outlet. This gave me the same sound I have had since new, added some more snap, followed the factory tailpipe location, and added a notch to the grin factor by knowing what I had done.

if you dont want it too loud, get a flowmaster 50 series delta flow, a lot of people with the 5.4 are happy with that muffler, nice growl, virtually no drone
if you want it a little louder, step up to the 40 series delta flow

On my newly acquired 5.4 Screw, I researched a little & went w/ the Magnaflow Y-pipe,2.5 in/3 out to an 18" stainless magnaflow w/ dual out of 2.5 w/ stainless tips behind the rear tires. The Y-pipe looks good under there & I like the sound of the exhaust. Nice rumble, but talks to you when you tell it to.
later
