exhaust question

First off I would like to say Hi to all u guys out there. I am a new F150 owner and am loving it.

Ok now to my question, I have a 05 supercrew lariat and had it up on my lift a noticed the the exhaust is extremely small. I am wanting to let the engine breath alittle more without making it extremely loud. I love how quit these trucks are and dont want to mess that up. So if any of you guys have any suggestions on an exhaust let me know.

Thanks

small as in pipe size, maybe a little, the muffler is huge, but for a 300hp engine if you have the 5.4L you can run 3in si/so or run 3in si/2.5 do. I myself am going to be buying the magnaflow cat back kit 16614, 3in si/ 2.5 do all stainless pipe, with polished ss muffler and tips, ddellwo I beleive has the same kit on his truck and he said he loves it.

You will find that most guys on here love their Magnaflow systems. I do. I got the 15749 kit for my truck. It is 3" cat-to-muffler, and dual 2.5" from the muffler-back. All the piping is T-304 stainless with mandrel bends and a polished muffler. Sound is very good. Nice tone, but not real loud. Windows up and you won't hardly hear it unless you try to listen for it. Windows down and you get the sound that Ford V8s are known for

thanks for the input so far guys

I just talk to another guy that came into my shop and he said that the Gibson swept side will give me great power and wont be that loud. Is this system as good or better that the magnaflow or is magna the best i can get?
I am assuming that a single pipe out the side is quieter than a split rear or is that not the case. These might be stupid questions but i just want to do it right the first time

i know its mostly opinion but what do u guys think?

dmelchi2000, I have a Gibson Swept Side on my Excursion and a Magnaflow SISO on the F150, Gibson doesn't even come close to the fit, finish, and performance of the Magnaflow. Actually, I wasn't that happy with the Gibson sound on my Excursion as I can hardly tell the sound difference. Troyer Performance has done extensive dyno testing on exhaust systems and nothing else will give you the performance and hp/trq gains that Magnaflow will. SIDO do tend to be louder than single out, but in my opinion, in that case, it may come down to aethestics. Can't go wrong with Magnaflow! Good luck.

I owned a Gibson Supertruck for a while with no complaints until it corroded to dead, maybe to soon for my taste. Sound was good, but now I am running on Hi-Flow Magnaflow cats, SI/DO muffler and 4" tips and this system really rocks. I love the sound that is stronger than the Gibson maybe because of the change in cats.
