Magnaflow H-pipe?
Magnaflow H-pipe?
I read alot of threads about cat-back systems.
I know on my mustang I replaced the original h-pipe with
an x-pipe. I thought I saw a program on magnaflow
once that discussed H-pipes for trucks to replace the stock
y-pipe.
Is anyone running the magnaflow h-pipe with their cat-back also?
Will this remove one set of cats and replace with higher flow cats?
Also, is there a magnapack muffler option with the cat-back?

An H pipe would have to come in before the muffler in which case you'd have to go with 2 mufflers or a funky di/do system which I've never even heard of. The actual H pipe should have no effect on what type of cats you are running since all you are doing is taking gases from one side of the motor and mixing them with the other with more of a scavanging effect. This would be more effective with switching to 2 hi-flo cats rather than four regular. However I don't think that this system with the H pipe would even be worth the effort unless you are going with a realy high performance setup with headers, high flo cats and high flo mufflers or straight pipes. It sounds like you want a cat-back system which are good and easy to install, but once you start adding the h-pipe and new cats you're gettin into more work, which is not hard work just more and more $$$.
i agree with jersey, itll get pretty expensive with cats and h-pipe, but hey if you got the money, go with two hi-flow cats, an H-pipe and a pair of magnaflow mufflers, that should sound awesome....loud, but awesome
Thanks for the replies. I need to give magnaflow a call. I am torn between
the stock setup and all out performance. This truck really rides and drives
like a luxury vehicle. The sound is barely audible. The other day an ambulance was right behind me blasting the siren and I didn't even hear them.
I really love the bad-*** v-8 sound but then again the lariat is so quiet and plush. Maybe a catback with a little rumble is the way to go. I would really like to have just 2 high-flow cats like on the stang though. On the mustang I had manifolds into a mid-pipe with 2 high-flow cats into a catback system with magnapacks. Very loud though.
With a muscle car I like the idea of people a block away saying "holy crap, what was that," when you fire it up. But the truck. I'm going to need to think about it.
