Flowmaster questions
Hey guys...i want to put a dual exhaust system out the back of my fx4. I was looking at buying the american thunder exhaust system with the super 40. I've read numerous places that talk about flowmaster pipes and tips rusting within the first year or so. I really want the sound of the flowmaster 40 but not sure if it is the best system to go with. What is your opinion? thanks
I have the Super 40 in place of the stock muffler. I had it since last July. After this winter the black paint on the Super 40 is gone and part of the muffler has some rust. I live in the East Coast and this winter was pretty bad, so I'm sure the salt had a huge part of causing the rust on the muffler. I'm sure that not washing the truck at all this whole winter also caused some rusting on the bottom of the driver side rear door also. Either or the Super 40 sounds awesome, and hopefully will last another 2yrs for me.
live in cali and have had my flowmaster 40s on since jully 03, no rust at all on the intire exuast system it has been this way for every vehicle i have had flowmasters on my jeep has had them for 6 years with no rust, hope this helps good luck
Yeah if you don't have stainless tips they will start to rust in less than a year. When I had the Flowmaster on, it rusted inside and started to rattle in just over 2 years. I have the Magnaflow dual in /dual out on now with stainless tips. 2 years and no rust!
