header wraps

Any comments on headers wraps, for or against? I have heard both sides, one says the headers will burn up really fast if you use the wrap and others say it won't hurt them at all.
Has anybody had any experience with this and would like to share their knowledge.
I don't care about any performance gains, I am more interested in header longevity, I don't think i am going to enjoy changing the manifold studs enough to want to do this very often!

Thanks,
JB

It's just a mess on shorty headers. I prefer ceramic coating on either style.

Header wraps are a huge pain, and they will decrease the life of the header due mostly to rust through. Like Max said, ceramic coating is the way to go.

Thanks for the input guys. So far the only people that say there is an advantage to wrapping the pipes are the people selling the wrap! Go figure.
Thanks again for the help.
