Cat and MIL eliminator Questions
i recently got a check engine light and went to AutoZone to get the code read. i'm throwing a PO430 code (has to do with catalytic convertor efficiency). so my first question is: is this definitely a cat problem for sure or should i check out the o2 sensors? next, if it is for sure a cat problem i'm considering replacing the rear cats with just a piece of straight pipe (not really for performance as i've heard that gains are minimal, but more for sound) doing this will cause the check engine light to come on again (thus i'll need MIL eliminators), so what exactly do the MIL eliminators do? does it in any way alter the A/F mixture or is all of that still handled as usual and they just keep the check engine light signal from going out (i don't want to affect A/F mixture negatively and cause advanced wear on my o2 sensors or poorer running)? and if these MIL eliminators are what i want, some of them look just like resistors, are these what all of them are or are these just the cheapo (aka Ebay) ones? and if they are indeed only resistors does anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram? thanks in advance for any answers. and just for future warning this probably isn't the full extent of my questions, but you guys here are a great source of info and really help while in a pinch. thanks again.
mil eliminators all they do it sent the signal to the computer to tell it the cats are functioning properly and no the O2 sensor for the cats will not effect ur a/f mixture the ones that determin that are located on the exhaust manifolds. the ones that are for the cats are for nothin but emissions b/s
I've always wondered do the MIL eliminators plug "inline" with the O2 sensor(s) or do they replace them all together? I always thought they just replaced them, but I keep seeing midpipes with no cats, but O2 mount holes...
