swapping cat for glasspack

On my '90 F150 4.9L, could I just take out the res and cat and put a cherry bomb in place of it, or woudl it fudge up some sensors? My pipe in thtat areas corroded anyways so I wanna take them off and put new pipe in place with a cherrybomb. And I get 10MPG, highway. Is that because my airfilters clogged or somethin?
thanks

I definitely don't recommend that. For one it's illegal to remove the catalytic converter. I'm not say don't do it because it is illegal, but if emission testing is required where you live it won't pass. The biggest reason not to do it is, you will lose far too much back pressure, which will result in a lose of torque. Glasspacks are very high flow mufflers. Putting one of these on with a cat will have very low back pressure, but with no cats you will virtually have no back pressure. Plus it will sound like crap. I have to admit that I like the sound of straight pipes better than glasspacks, and I hate straight pipes. Just my opinion.
