40 series vs. 50 series (flowmasters)
how much louder is 40 series then 50 series is there a good difference.. and is 40 series deep becuz i dont want it to sound to racy ..wats your opinion on them.?.thanks
i got the 40's on my truck, alot of the interior noise is subject to where you have the exhaust dump, and where the mufflers are located. most of the time they are put in front of the gas tank, creates decent interior noise, but also, if you have them go straight out the back its alot quieter then having them come out sideways behind the tires. i like things loud so mine are out the side, also it depends on the side of tips you use also the style. rolled tips act more like resonators then slash cuts, and the fatter the tip the deeper and more powerfull the sound.
i got 40's side exit with 4 inch slash cuts, its not over powering but you can sure hear it

I tried both mufflers, because I had the same question and wanted to find out for myself what the differences were. I temporarily installed the 50 series and then the 40 series, and believe it or not, there is a very small difference in how loud the sound is. But a fairly big difference in tone, the 40 series has a deeper tone. Of course, I went with the 40 series. And it's still not quite as loud as I really wanted, but sounds very good. Since you have four catalitic converters, it really isn't very loud at all, especially inside. Go with the 40!!
