Magnaflo Messed Up???

My brother in -law bought the SIDO for his 2004 FX4 crew cab. I feel responsible since I recommended this system to him.

The hangers they sent appear to be to short? You can't push the system up because it hits the frame rail. Longer hangers would have fixed this.

Really need pictures up close so wee can see the hangers that bolt to the frame rail and how it clears the factory tow hitch.

Please help. My email is robert-linda@verizon.net

Regards

Rob

Did you also recommend that he buy it from Troyer Performance? I called them with some questions and they were very helpful.

Would have but hotexhaust had the best deal at the time with a coupon.

After extensive searching it appears Magnaflo did screw this system up. Looks like he will have to either remove his hitch or screw around with the hangers that came with the kit. Find that kind of odd for Magnaflo. He isn't going to be happy when I tell him.

Doesn't Magnaflow have two kits for the '04, one for the early trucks and one for the trucks built after mid-year? I'm not sure of the differences, but that might be something....

Yes they do. But that isnt't the issue here. His was an early build so it isn't a pipe problem.

They have a PDF file on there web site now which states that you may have a problem with this system if you have a factory tow package. Wasn't there when we ordered it. They got a lot of calls from forum members and others for sure who had to screw around with this system to make it fit. Some welded the hanger to the frame. We might remove the side supports on the hitch. Then we could use the correct bolt location. Still a pain in the *** for sure.

Just go with a differt hanger

Troyer even says it in their material. You need to put a different hanger on that mounts back of the hitch. Use a truck hanger to get the distance /strength.

Well it's installed. He loves it. Did break 2 clamps 1 3" and 1 of the 2.5 band clamps. Ordered some better ones from Jegs.

Everyone seems to be going about it in a different way. We removed the hitch reinforcement plates. And we know someone at a machine shop that will modify them so they can be reinstalled. So we used the mounting points in the instructions. All in all kind of a pain for a direct bolt in system. But the main thing is he likes it.
