Dual Exhuast/Sound/Gas mileage

I have a 4.6L, 4X4, lifted, 35's, 16X10's, cold air intake, and dual exhaust with glasspacks and 3 1/2" tips.

Before the glasspacks I was running straight pipe, no muffler. I got very Sh**** gas mileage.

I went to a local performance shop (not a chain) and talked w/ the guys there. They talked me into a FM Super 40. Needless to say, I didn't like the sound. He said it was suppossed to be louder and better than the original 40 series. I guess going from straight duals to that was a huge change in sound.

After that episode, he talked me into glasspacks. They do sound better, closer to my original setup. But, my gas mileage isn't the greatest.

I recently installed a Superchips micro tuner. Now running this thing on stage 3 93+ octane I'm getting around 305 mi. out of tank. Before on stock w/ 87 I got about 250. When I tune it to stage 1 and run 87 I get less miles than running stage 3? Weird

Anyhow, I've decided I want to redo my exhuast. I'm thinking of doing an angled exit out the back instead of straight out. I'm also considering true duals, and a different muffler.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks.
