Question Exhaust Problem?

I own an 2001 F150 Supercrew and have had the factory exhaust totally removed and true duals installed with flowmasters. I ran the exhaust tips infront of the pass. rear tire like the Lightning. My question is will I ruin my rim, tire or rotor with the exhaust gas. I was told this by my neighbor who is an Ford mechanic and stated the lightnings have this problem. I have noticed a cosiderable amount soot build up on the rim in the short amount of time I have had this new exhaust. Please help!!! are ther any technical postings anywhere.

Good question guido. I know the 97 f150s came that way stock and did have a problem with soot on the right rear wheel. My 02 Lightning does'nt get any soot on it even with two big a** Bassani tips there. Guess its like the brake dust thing, you'll just have to clean the rims a little more often but shouldnt hurt anything. P.S. Welcome to the site!

My '97 F-150 has the stock exhaust exiting behind the rear passenger side wheel.

Also, I have heard of a few problems with the exhaust exiting in front of the wheel. There is a thread around here somewhere... you try the search?

I'm an idiot.

For some reason I was convinced mine exited behind the rear wheel, but as I was walking up to it today in a parking lot... I saw that it exits before.

My bad.

Anyway, I haven't had any problems with excessive buildup, tire wear, etc.
