True Dual Question for Ford 302

I have a 95 Ford F-150 with a 302. I cut off one of my cats and my stock muffler awhile ago and replaced the stock exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series that feeds into a 2 1/2" y pipe that comes straight out behind the bumper. The truck has a really deep tone at start up but once it warms up it quiets down, it is also quiet at any rpm range even with the windows down. I've left this exhaust on there for awhile now, because every ford with a 302 i've heard has sounded pretty crappy. I figured this engine just doesnt sound good with any exhaust-BUT- I was wondering if i were to put on a cheap pair of tubular headers to replace the restrictive old manifolds, cut off the cat (I have a question about this later) then connect two straight pipes with no bends overe the axle and then bend them out at 45 degree angles to the bumper with tips, then would it sound good???

And the question i had about that cat is...There is an O2 sensor that is connected into a small tube where the two manifolds come into the Catylitic converter...I know removing the cat would screw up how rich my truck runs on gas. Anyways, i was wondering if i could install the 02 sensor into one of the pipes on the True Dual Set-up and have my truck run like normal.

I have access to a welder and pipe bender and everything to do the job, I am just wondering if this will work and if it will sound good. Please reply if you can help.

the o2 sensor tells the pcm to richen the a/f or lean it,the only thing the cat takes care of is the left over fuel and nox.now in my auto tech class we just got done testing cats and my truck has 80000 on it and i had to pull a plug wire to get the engin to run rich in closed loop so the cat could be tested,VERY EFFICIENT....the only thing that you might have a problem with is if the one side of the engine runs leaner or richer than the other might affect your readings and mpg.
