Custom with Magnaflow...

Since I am on a very tight budget, I was thinking about this and wondering if anyone else did something similiar... Thinking about getting like a 14259 Mag muffler, and a stick of 3" SS pipe as well as a SS Mag tip and having a local shop install the muffler, and run the 3" Ss pipe out the back in the stock location with the tip. Pretty much a 15069? kit, but should be alot cheaper doing it ourselves. How close would this sound to the kit from Mag? I had considered just doing muffler and tip on the stock pipe, but dont know that I'd gain much.
Another thought was SI/DO Mag and run both pipes side by side out the stock location, but that would be $$ especially in Stainless pipe. A local shop will do a SI/DO Flowmaster system for 200.00, or a little higher for Mag, but its aluminized pipe and figure that would turn nasty looking before long.
So, any thoughts or ideas? Obviously, I want to get by as cheap as possible, have great ..deep..sound for the 5.4....and not lose any power.
Thanks!

Hi jr,
I tried going the muffler shop route and lost some low end power. My suggestion is to order a system from hottexhaust.com. At checkout you have an opportunity th enter a coupon code. Enter wideopen2zg13, and you will get a 20% discount. So for somewhere between 360 and 390 you can have a Magnaflow Stainless catback system. I ended up ordering form those guys and could have saved a wagonload of money if I would have done that in the first place...Kevin

Skip the 3" pipe and buy the Magnaflow mandrel bent tailpipe #15038. I wouldn't let an exhaust shop bent pipe over the axle.
