Fake K&N intake systems
Fake K&N intake systems
Is this stuff legit or garbage(The noname cold intake filter systems resembling K&N)? Being that K&N wants $250 for the same thing, I have my doubts about spending the $30 + $24 shipping. Someone advise please.

I understand that they are not K&N, but I was wondering if anyone knows if the no name cold intakes systems are junk, or if they are pretty reliable. I just think that paying an extra $220 for a brand name is a little steep, unless there is a problem with the no namers. Thanks for checking though.
i have the fake one that i got for like 30 bux on ebay. i put it on the same time as the flowmaster duals so power i didnt notice alone. both them combined upped it alittle and sound is way better. i think it looks alot better then the factory air box and it easier to work on in the engine bay. in my opinion its got to flow more air and where it is isnt that hot so it doesnt get the heat soak that people think...
my opinion
id say the 60 dollar specials are as good as the brand name intakes... just look at them unless the pipe routes your filter to a better location to recieve a greater amount of cold air i cant see how it would be better when they are near identicle your throttle body is only so big so size is near same... the only thing id consider is a different filter and a k&n filter recharger kit bcuz from what i have seen they do not come preoiled. i have looked into airiad and air force one intakes and they route the filter to the same spot so as far as for an f-150 goes id say if u pay 250$ for a intkae all u payed for is a name. I put no name on my truck felt a difference and love the sound well worth the 60$ next to come exhaust will probably drone out the intake though.....
Hey, i don't mean to start another thread here, but since the topic came up, I'll ask. I have a stock '98 150 4.2 that I am about to start doin' some mods to. Thanks for everyones info on the 'no-name' systems, I think that just saved me a few dimes.
Keep in mind that I am sort of ignorant (for lack of better words) when it comes to all of this. I want to upgrade my exhaust, but don't want to break the bank. Would just putting a perf muffler and tips on be as good as a whole cat back - why/why not? Does anyone have suggestions on a system for the 4.2?
Someone brought up 'droning out' the intake. What exactly is that? What's the price range? Would it be worth it on a V6?
I've heard a few people talk about throttle body spacers. Some say they help, some say they are a waist of money. Does anyone know what they are like on a 4.2 and if so, is it worth it?
I know little, but I do know that there is only so much you can do to a V6 by way of performance. I would like to get every pony out of her that i can. Thanks in advance for any/all help.
