SI/Do Question
SI/Do Question
Hello Every-one ,
This is kinda my first post . I not long ago i bought a 2002 XLT 5.4 Scab . I have gotten the 1715 through the classifieds here for my first mod . I have a chance to buy a Magnaflow muffler 14221 si/do . I was wondering If I can use this with my stock pipes ( Just cut the old 1 out and put this in ) . Only reason im asking is because the dual out part were my Stock muffler is Single out. I dont have Alot of loot so I'm looking for A cheap fix to the Stock muffler and am Able to buy Magnaflow muffler 14221
@ around $60.00 from a Friend ( new) .
Thanks in advance for your Help ,

Well there are a whole lot of questions that have to be answered first.
Are you doing a self install?
Do you want Dual Tail Pipes or would you be happy with a single?
Is this the only muffler you can get? (14221)
Where do you want you pipes to exit the vehicle?
What size is your intermediate pipe?
What size is your stock tail pipe?
Basically we need more info.
however, if you want/have to use the 14221 it is a 3"/2.5"dual muffler with an overal length of 20".
You will have to join your intermediate pipe to the 3" inlet. I believe your intermediate pipe's stock size is 2.5". In which case you will need an expander to make the fit to the new muffler. It is best to do this right after the "Y" and run 3" all the way to the muffler. The magnaflow is probably shorter than the stock muffler so you will have to add some length to your setup to make up the difference. You may also have to fab up some hangers or tweak the stock ones to fit the new muffler. The stock tail pipe should be as easy as clamping it on. You will have to make the second tail pipe using 2.5" pipe and make your own bends. You might be better off getting all your measurements and taking them down to a muffler shop and have them make your second tail pipe for you.
If I were you, I would just run a SI/SO magnaflow. It will be a lot easier (for a self install) and actually show better HP numbers.
Good Luck
