Question Exhaust pipe tips

What difference does the shape of the pipe tip make? I mean does an angled tip make a different sound than just a straight cut off style... I'm new to this and the straight cut off pipe I have now sounds too harsh - I'd like a slightly softer sound.
I have an Aero Turbine muffler with 3" pipe on inlet and outlet.

Thanks for any advice.

yes the way the sound exits the sound chamber or pipe makes a difference. slash tips i think sound the best straight cut offs are raspy and sharp sounding. turn downs are loud cause the sound reflects immediatly off the ground back up to u. slash tips about half the sound hits ground and other half hits a near by wall for instance givin u a better balance in sound acoustics...so if uwant a good low sound go with a slah/angle cut tip. but make sure they dont stick way out... no one like knee cutters..

Your comments make sense - thanks.
This is my first truck and I've never done any exhaust modification on my cars.
I had thought it might be the way you said, but wanted to see if others had experience. Glad I asked.
