Dualing a 4.2 V6
Dualing a 4.2 V6
For some reason, my post keeping getting removed.
Simple question. Is it a bad idea to dual out a 4.2 V6 with 3' pipe?
Will it sound bad (meaning - like *****)?

I have the 15609 Magnaflow 3-inch si/so and it sounds good to me on my V6. I feel that it gained power somewhat through out the rpm range. Being Magnaflow designed this system and some people claim performance wise it is the best, I would say 3-inch duals would be way to big. I would probably look for 2-inch pipe as being the best to keep performance and add 3-inch diameter tips. From all the research I have done (V6 wise) Magnaflow and Borla are the top two picks. I think this is due to their straight through designed muffler and that is probably what I would look for if I was you. Good luck!

Stick with dual 2" pipes and 3" or larger tips. You won't see the pipes, so you might as well getto keep some power from the weak V6. Tips are cheap.

So what I'm gonna do is come off the KAT dualed with 2" pipes and 3" tips.
Someone recommended to me that I do a Magna flow system, come off the standard exhaust up to the muffler, install a magna flow muffler and then come off with duals from their 2 in to 3 in chrome tips.
Think I would get both some hp and a quality sound?
