Keeping the shine.
Keeping the shine.
Whats up guys I, getting new exhaust tips for my truck. Right now I've got 22 by 3 inch stainless duals coming out the back. Wanting to know which is best for looks and not rusting. Also what is the best way to protect them to keep them from rusting I've heard coating with wd 40, what's your guys opinion? Thanks any opinions welcome here's my truck.
WD-40 would probabley work, but is oil based so would attract dust like flies to poop. Would probabley be a good shine for a car show though. But it is also flameable, If it's a dailey driver I'm sure there are high heat wax based products out there some where. Someone might Know about.
Edit
PS an old biker trick they use vaseoline on thier chrome including exahust to keep it from rusting, but afraid it would have the same affect as WD-40

hey i just use chrome wax by Turtle to shine my tips... it works pretty good..once u get them do a couple coats and let it sit on there for a while each time... on my chrome grill gaurd i use oderless kitchen PAM ...its clear and makes getting bugs mud etc. off very easy...i would read the can im assuming its not flamable ...DUH but it may be if u have enuf heat i guess... i dont kno if anyone has used it on exhaust but im going to try it this summer during the construction year
Great Ideas racerf150man. The Pam sounds great it is made for cooking and oven temps can reach 400 degrees. So unless your spraying it on with the engine running and a back fire occurs, other wise then I think it would be safe in theory.
