Gibson or Magnaflow?
I am wanting to get a cat back for my 98 Expedition. I want something that is a tad louder than stock. From what I am reading it seems like I should be looking at the Gibson or the Magnaflow setup. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on these? Also what are the pipe sizes on both of these. I thought that the Gibson was all 3 inch while the Magnaflow was 3 inch with a 4 inch tip? Thanks.

I've had a Jardine catback, and now running a Gibson SweptSide catback on my 2000 Expy. This Jardine was too loud at all rpm levels, and had an interior drone at 2000rpm. The Gibson has been a sweet upgrade with no interior drone or low-end performance, and is a nice performance enhancements. You hear the Gibson the most between 1500 & 1800 rpms. At highway cruising speed, it's the same as stock. Be sure to see FamilyRide's posts in the Expy forum concerning the Gibson. As for the Magnaflow, I don't have anything for ya...good luck with your choice.

Hey BoostRetard!
I had the chance to drive a short bed F-150 with a magnaflow muffler installed.
It wasn't the system, but a custom made exhaust, and It was a single in,dual out. Nice tone and no drone in the cab. You could hardly tell it had an aftermarket muffler on it,til you got on the gas more than normal.
The tone is hard to describe, but I know it did sound good and tough

You will love the sound, not loud but deep in tone. This is what I have now. Muffler #12368 is the muffler I have with dual out the back. With SS 3.5" x 22" Cannons.
I hope this helps!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I think I am pretty much decided on the Magnaflow Cat-back. Does anyone know when they are going to start with their all stainless exhaust, and how much it will be?Sounds like the Gibson is just a little too tame for me. I don't want it Flowmaster loud, just nice and deep. I have 3 inch dual exhaust with no cats on my mustang so that is plenty loud if I get the need to hear flowmasters. Thanks again.
Gibson for me!
Check out my sig. CLick on the link too. The recordings were done just after I installed it. It's gottne louder with time and I think for an EB EXpy, it's just right.
I've heard a lot of good things about the Magna Flow too. Check out the Gibson web site if you haven't. The Swept Side improves low end. I love it. I could never pull a hill in OD at 50 MPH without it downshifting.
I've got tons of posts on the Gibson, more than you'd ever want to read.
