Question laws on dumping

I got a Ravin Z55 si/so muffler put on the other day. I was going to dump it right after the muffler, but the guy said that it has to be past the rear axle, so i just went ahead and left the stock tailpipe. It sounds great but I wish it was a little louder. I would still like to dump it but I do not know what is legal. Can anyone tell me the laws on dumping exhaust???

If I am not mistaken, the tip of the pipe has to be no less than 18" behind the rear wall of the cab. When I had my Z-33 put on, we mounted the muffler a little further behind where the stock muffler was so that the pipes coming out were shorter, but they still met the 18" requirement. I might be mistaken, but if you have a chance, call the shop where mine was installed. I dont have the number, but it's called American Brake and Muffler, and they are located in Conroe. There is a shop in Spring, but the guys in Conroe are a lot nicer to deal with. Ask for a guy named Ronnie and he can tell you what you need to know. After all he's the professional!

What do you think about the muffler? It's great isn't it!!

Thumbs up

I'm with adamski. Here in Texas anyhow, I've always heard the the exhaust had to run 18" past the rear of the passenger compartment.
