Post Advice from anyone that runs with no mufflers

My current system has the factory Y feeding a Flow 50 Delta si/do that dumps out the back with 4" tips. I would like to eliminate the muffler and retain everyting from there back.
Should I add a Y pipe in place of the muffler, or should I cut the factory Y and run 2 separate pipes back to connect past where the muffler was? I want the big block sound without the popping and cracking noises the exhaust makes when the throttle is on the way back down. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

hey guys,
i run straight pipes on my 4.6 and let me give you some advice. carefully watch the pipe size. i went with 2 1/2" the first time and lost lots of low-end. i went back and changed to 2 1/4", felt stock again. not that my truck is anything super strong. i just can't afford to lose much torque as i am usually hooked up to something, or have a decent load in the back. i cut the muffler off, added in a y-pipe and ran duals straight out the back. sounds great and does not pop..hope this helps, Rich.

I run two 2 1/4 separate pipes all the way back. It sounds great! The converters keep it pretty qu1et until you give it some peddle, then it talks.
