headers

I have a 1997 4.6L 4WD F-150, I was wondering if headers off of a 96-98 mustang GT will work. Arent the heads the same for both mustangs and f-150's? Just the intake manifold is different.

Thanks a lot

Dont know if headers on a gt will work but i did have headers on my 97 4.6. Be prepared for alot of work puttin headers on. I would invest in some allen headed bolts so u can ust a t-handle instead of a small wrench cause the space is very cramped. Be sure to take ur front wheels off and also ur inner fenders to give you the most room to work. Good luck. I had headers for bout 3 and a half years and not the first exhaust leak. Good luck with the mod.

I went the cheap route with a set of painted pacesetter headers from jcwhitney. I just used the gaskets that they sent with the headers. I did however add a bead of rtv silicone, make a gasket, whatever u want to call it around each port on both sides. We put the passenger side on , let the truck run for a min then tighten the bolts down again. Take ur time and be as patient as possible cause puttin headers on these trucks are a PITA. good luck

302,

The flanges are the same. The routing to the exhaust system is not. The hight that the exhaust joins the headers on a Mustang is not the same as an F-150 nor is it at the same angle. If you are getting them for free then try them, you have nothing to loose but your time.
