Question Straight Pipes?

I hear people talking about straight pipes and im wanting to know whats so special about them...any tech info and how they work. does it help preformance?

As far as I know, there is no more increase in performance with the straight pipes than with the side-outs. I would personally get the straight back just because it looks better. Overall, dualling out your exhaist will increase performance in the long run, but I don't think there is a difference with the straight pipes.

Question

does glass packs only make more noise or help performance wise....and whats the best way to get sound and max performance from exahast?

hey truckluver,
straight pipes means no muffler. not exhaust pipes staight out the back.

Before you run "straight-pipes" in Texas, you may want to consider whether local inspections require a muffler?? There are several types of mufflers that have a "straight-thru" core and glasspacks are one of them. With the cat setup on these trucks, you have to get a loud muffler to get much sound out of it. Several come to mind: Flowmaster 40s, Dynomax Ultra-flows, Ravin, and Magnaflow.
