I have a 4.2 L with a flowmaster cat-back system and it sounds very good. You get a nice rumble at idle and it will really get going when you get on the gas. Hope this helps.

I have a 4.2l with a gibson exhaust. bought a gibson supertruck exhaust on ebay two weeks ago for only 230 shipped. there is a very noticeable growl when starting engine and turning off. also in the lower gears theres a lot of rumble. once OD kicks in on highway...i think it is quieter than the stock exhaust. but for around the town driving it supposedly sounds great. i do notice a sound change and don't know if i personally like the sound change in the lower gears, but my passengers have told me it sounds much better, looks cooler. but like i said...just the turning on and off of engine ...has that really cool pressure building sound in exhaust...which rocks.

edit: i previously added an air raid intake and thought perhaps the exhaust would make the intake inaudible...but nope. now i have lots of whine from the front...and lots of rumbling sound in back. its a music making machine...hehe
