Post Borla? or Magnaflow?

I am just about to order my catback and I have narrowed it down to Borla or Magnaflow. They are similiar in price and seem to be similiar in quality. Which would be the better choice? I know that Borla is a more popular name brand, but is it really a better system. Please give me your input.

I recently had the pleasure of driving Flats Mans' truck with a Magnaflow muffler on it.
That is one sweet sounding muffler! Low and mean, with a bark to it. Even in a reg. cab truck,it did not resonate in the cab. My glasspacks do that on my ext. cab,and they're as far back as they can
go. I'm switching to them as soon as I can find a dealer here in Houston, shouldn't take long....I've never heard a Borla, though. Just my opinion,,,,98

Thank you for the reply. Do you know, did he have the cat-back system or a magnaflow muffler? I am looking at cat-backs. I would really like to hear from someone what a Borla system sounds like. I was leaning towards Borla but since I read this last post, I am now unsure. HELP!!!

I think he has a single in/double out muffler with a custom rear exiting exhaust. It sounds unreal when you tromp on the pedal. But the supercharger
and the Art Carr trans could have some thing to do with how it sounds, too
Try asking him about it,he has a post running down the page a little, hope he can help you out some,,,98

Cool

Stump-Jumper, I chose the Magnaflow at the recommendation of a racing exhaust specialest that had a back ground with SVT and participated in early testing with the Lightning. If you hold this muffler up, you can look straight through it. When I installed the muffler, I had not planned on Supercharging so I just recently went back to him to see if he thought I might need to go dual in, dual out. He could have sold me a whole new system, but said that I wasn't restricted at the muffler at all but we are going to do a little custom pipe bending prior to the muffler this Saturday.
If I had it to do all over again, I would go Magnaflow. My Brother, Sixpipes has a dual in dual out on his Lightning and loves it. You can't go wrong with this muffler!

I installed a Borla dual outlet system about a month ago.

It's actually gotten louder the more I drive it. It rumbles at idle, when accelerating hard it almost sounds like a 5.0 liter 'Stang, and it does have a nice drone at highway speeds. A little pricy, $561 + $5 handling from Summit Racing. They had it in stock, I had it in 5 days, with Christmas and Christmas Eve included!!!

I guess the appearance of the tips are subjective, either you like 'em or you don't.

The truck seems faster, Borla claims up to 15 HP.

Good luck with whatever system you choose.

After long consideration I think that I am going to get the Borla. I know a few people that have installed Borla systems on their cars (no trucks however) and have been more than pleased. I have actually experienced the sound and performance gains made by the Borla systems and have never heard of Magnaflow up to this point. It is such a hard decision. I am not ordering it until Tuesday, so you have until then to give me your 2 cents on this issue.

Last week I ordered a dual out the rear Borla exhaust system for my 99 F-150 Supercab Longbed. $519 from truckperformance.com during their Borla sale last week. I was looking for a longlasting, high-quality, rear exit system. I was originally referred to Gibson and Borla by some performance experts and chose Borla due to their aircraft quality T-304 stainless steel. Also, a friend of mine has a Borla system on his Mustang and loves it. It should be here soon and I plan on installing it within a few weeks.
