Post Gibson cat-back

Does anyone out there have the Gibson cat-back on their truck? I would like to hear some of your opinions on it. Did it improve performance? What did it do to gas mileage? And most importantly, How loud is it?

Thumbs up

There are several of us running Gibson systems here. I have the Supertruck. Too early to tell about MPG. Sound is absolutely awsome, but not too bad in the cab. Gave me more low end torque. And last but not least, I love those dual square tips.

My buddy has the sweptside on his Dodge w/ an 8, and it sounds killer. It is not extremely loud but when you step on it, you know its modified. His low end definitely picked up also.

howdy guys,

i am now looking at a gibson swept side.
a local shop has the stainless for $459.00.
i am curious if anyone has installed this themselves on a f150. i have a 99 ex-cab shortbed 4wd, 4.6. according to the gibson page it should mount right up with nuthin but a socket set. did look at magnflow, but decided to go with this unit. plan on ordering this next friday barring hearing any horror stories on this unit between now and then. i saw another posting here for mounting the same unit but it was on a expedition. the shop i called seemed to really stand behind this product. according to gibson's website the swept side would best suit my needs. thanks for any input.

if anyone is interested,

the past couple of days i have been 'surfing' for the gibson swept back system. truckperformance.com did not have them on their page. for the heck of it i called them today and they do carry them, but were having problems displaying them on their system. gave me a price of 425 to door. that is better than i have found locally (no tax).

billycouldride,

I ordered mine from truckperformance.com. I ordered it before Christmas on sale for $369 delivered. They had it on sale plus no shipping. It was the best I've seen on the S/S Swept Side. The ship date did however slip 3 times. Although not too bad, mine came in on the 9th.

You can also check with Roger at the Online Store here. At the time, Roger couldn't come close to matching the deal TPC had, but he may now....maybe. Just go to the online store and you'll see a link with his email. It's not listed but he can get it. He could get very competitive on the aluminized. I bought my Airaid from him.

If you do order from TPC, be aware, the status updating on the web doesn't really happen. And if you call them, almost no one will help you, they'll transfer you to the person that handles web orders which is a voice mail box and don't expect a call back. I had to escalate to get to a real pearson who had to call Gibson. They take the order and let it roll and certainly don't do a good job of communicating. If it's in stock I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.

The end result was that I got mine in a somewhat reasonable amount of time and it arrived in good shape and I couldn't beat the price at the time. I do like the ease of shopping on their site though.

Enough rambling, I'm going to start preping for the install in the morning........

If anyone is interested, I have a Stainless Steel Gibson Cat-Back exhaust with dual mandrel bend tail pipes for sale. I have a V-6 F150 regular cab and decided to switch over to a Flowmaster. The Gibson unit is only nine months old with receipts. It has a 3 inch inlet and muffler to 2 ½ pipes; also includes 2 chrome Gibson tips; I paid $510...sell for $255. Shop around but this is a good price..basically half of what I paid. I live in San Diego CA. Drop me a line at Golddollarkid@hotmail.com if you want more info.
