Gee, you mean that they don't polish the entire S/S system? ;-) The tip looks good though. Now I know what someone meant by "almost" undetectable. Unless you notice that big 3.5" S/S tip with the word "Gibson" stamped into it, it looks pretty stock.

Any tips from anyone that's installed a Swept Side? It should be a breeze but any time saving tips are welcome.

Did you have to cut or just remove a clamp and remove the old exahaust from the y pipe?

Someone else posted that their instructions for the F150 were to cut at a certain point and install from there. What I'm getting at is did you unclamp and seperate the pipes and if so, was it a problem?

I cut the pipe off just ahead of the joint. The head pipe coming from the new muffler was too long to go onto the pipe where the joint was anyway so I didn't even try to pull it off. I don't know if yours is the same, but I would assume it is.

You'll like it chipped! I'm on the 3rd tank of gas since the install and I'm starting to notice even a little more improvement. And in my case, I'm sitting on 16 MPG local driving. I used to get 13-13.5 best. I'm doing just the opposite in most cases though. I'm tending to drive a little more conservitive....well not 100% of the time. ;-)

Just had my Gibson single Swept Side installed by meineke - the same one here in Atlanta that did Steve Eppinger's (if you haven't already, see his review in the Product Review section). They only charged $75, which was worth it to me since I have other things to do this Saturday. Like install my new front airdam. Sound is only slightly louder than stock, but it is a much better sound. It has a pleasing throaty rumble. There is no drone at all on the highway. I can't honestly say that there is a noticable change in performance. Although, I haven't had a chance to drive it much yet. Wonder if it will take the factory computer a while to adjust?

Thanks for the post. Ya, I found a shop that is a Gibson dealer that said they'd charge $75 also. It really is pretty easy and if you actually do it in a shop that does nothign but that, I bet they could knock it out in no time. I guess I'll enjoy scraping some knuckles and cussing a little and eventually get it done.

I'm looking forward to the sound. From your description it sounds like it what I want and is appropriate for an Expy. If I see any performance improvement it'll be a bonus at this point. I've heard that the stock Expy exhaust is pretty good so performance improvement is minimal at best. If I remember from the last time I was under it and looked, the pipes evern looked mandrel bent. Of course with the room that there is, there's not a lot of big bends.

I'll post after I get the install done in the morning.
