Just finished having the Flowmaster 40 with custom bent exhaust and 3" x 24" Tennesse Tips (45 degree cut)installed. I was expecting a louder note but this will have to do for now. I immediately noticed a decrease of 100 rpm at idle. Haven't had time to 'shake out' the rest. Should be a fun weekend!

Just a bit more information: On the way home from work my favorite way, (wide open spaces),I noticed that from a dead stop at WOT the shift point from first to second was 4 mph greater - 47 mph! I ran ito traffic and was unable to let it go through 2nd(usually shifts to third at 80). More to come.

Congratulations on your exhaust mod. I think I will definitely go FM 40 on mine when I get cash. Well either that or straight pipes, I gotta find someone that will pass me for inspection, before I get that.

If it's noise you want, the FM40 won't do the trick (gotta be the quad cats). It's really quiet at idle but does get better when you put the foot into it! As I stated, I have noticed a significant decrease in rpm's since the install. Over the past few days (I wantd to make sure), rpm's dropped about 250 (from 2000 to 1750)while cruising at 70 mph in overdrive. It seems to "get it on" better but am still playing! Santa disappointed me this year, as I really was looking for a digital camera to do some pictures. Can't cry too loud or I may not get the mods I want....know what I mean!!!

 

I just had the Flowmaster 40 installed on my truck and it is petty loud. It's a single with duals exiting to the rear and it sounds good. I was surprised though of how small the actual muffler is. It's only about 13 inches long. I have not had a chance to try it out as of yet.
