Question turn downs legal???

I lowered my truck 4/6 and want to
do the exhaust next. I don't like the
way tips look so I wanted to turn it
down after the mufflers. Is this legal?
Would I have a problem getting it inspected
anywhere? Thanks for the help...

Here in Texas the law says that the tailpipes must extend 18" beyond the back of the cab. As long as you put the new muffler where the old one was, you can turn them down as they come out of the muffler. At one time I think the law said that the tail pipes had to extend beyond the rear axle, but when I had my muffler put on, I started with the "dumps" and the guy that put it in told me about the 18" rule.
Hope this helps!

Cool

My buddy and I both have our exhausts dumped right after the muffler(well, maybe like three inches after it) Sounds good, and unfortunately don't know if it is legal. The guy at the muffler shop did it for me, no problem so I don't think it is in cali.
