exhaust ??

got the 97 f 250 ld with the single pipe in front of the back tire and want new pipes

thinking of cutting out the cats and mufflers and running 2.5'' straight pipes out the back with ss tips that expand from 2.5 to 4'' and leaving it at that

but should i install mufflers
will the straights lose my pulling power
i want the infamous low growl that ppl look over and go Damn! that sounds awsome!

any info would be great thanx

You can get the sound you want without going with straight pipes.Try imco or ravin mufflers, I think you will like their sound. The setup you want to do will probably cause power loss because a certain amount of backpressure is needed.

I agree with that. Staights arent my thing, but they do sound mean! If you decide on going with mufflers later on, check out my gallery, I have Ravin Z33 and I love them! Best sound I have heard on the new truck imo!

GO WITH THE STRAIGHTS
I second that! True dual straight pipes off the factory cats sound great!! Start removing the cats, and it only gets louder, but you have to remember the 02 sensors, youll have to consider those too

I have straight pipes on my 4.6 and it sounds great..I love it....cant wait till hi flo's and true duals....
