Angry Dynomax mistake

I called a gentleman at A-1 performance Friday June 16 and asked about an ultra flo split rear catback. He quoted a price of $259.95 and gave me a part number. I drove to their shop Saturday morning to pick up my new exhaust system. When I arrived they offered me the super turbo system for that price. I explained that I did not want the super turbo, and I had specifically asked for the ultra flow since they had told me there was significantly better performance with the ultra flo. I was then told the price was $299.95. A $40.00 price difference. I initially thought that wasn't to bad except for the fact that I only $290.00 in my wallet.Bill, the man at the counter did not offer to work it out. So I left. I stewed for a while and called Fred back.(The man who gave me the original quote.) I told him I thought this a poor way to handle things. (Politely)He said he would have handled if I had talked to him when I was there, but made no effort to do so over the phone. It's not like I did not want to buy this system, It's 70 miles for the round trip and you have to guess at their location since they are over a muffler shop with nothing I saw to identify them as A-1. So on their behalf, they may not have understood what I was looking for over the phone, or they may have thought I was trying to pull a fast one. I can't speak for them. I do painted pin stripe on the side, and when someone calls me for a two color price, I stick to it even if I get a Chevy suburban when I thought it was a Toyota over the phone. That's just my philosophy on honorable business dealings. I would not tell anyone not to deal with these folks, but you should probably be very clear on what it is you want from them. As for me, I'm going to buy Jardine.

File a complaint w/ the BBB if they are listed. If not call a parent company. I've had to talk to brass to many times it seems. That appears to be the only way that things get done sometimes.
A muffler shop here was trying to get the ultra flo also and their distributor kept sending them the super turbo. 6x's in fact.

I'm suppose to get my ultra today from summit. Just checked the tracking # and it's in town on it's way. Finally.

Thumbs up

Littlericky,
Seems like these things happen at a lot of places these days. I'm glad to see that your business ethics are higher than that. I own a sign and graphics company and I do the same. Once the customer is quoted a firm price, that is the highest price they will pay. I've made mistakes and taken a hit on jobs before, but I think the honesty pays off in the long haul.
