Just installed Borla Split Rear
I ordered the kit from Summit and it came in today. Very nice quality system and packed well.
Installed everything myself. To remove the hangers on the mufflers use wd-40, shove a small screw driver through and pull like hell. Removing the old muffler was the hard part, mine was bolted on so there was no sawsall cutting. Other then that everything fits very nice together and went easy.
As for sound it's a nice not loud mellow sound at idle, and it gets a nice rumble/grumble under acceleration. No drone or really noticiable noise inside that cab. Performance wise I don't think it really added any HP, but the engine seems to rev easier and a little faster, do I did notice a little power increase. No for more money for everything else.

Captain,
I also orderd the borla but the anniversary edition which comes with the carbon fiber tips, dual to the rear, someone replied in one of the early post that he had one and it was very mellow, and that is what I wanted, nothing loud, the carbon fiber tips lower the sound some more, my wife is a pain in
the neck when to this comes, she wants to talk with out yelling she says.

Dragonboy,
Tell your wife not to worry, it's only loud if you stand behind and rev the engine. And the only inside cab drone I've noticed is alittle bit at 49-52 mph in four gear, which isn't even heard with factory stereo at about 1/2 volume. I wanted the carbon fiber tips, especially 2 sets of the carbon fiber dual, but couldn't afford 130 for each tip. You will like it though.

Borla sounds great doesn't it. I had mine installed couple weeks ago. Quality is great on this system. There are 2 companies that have stood behind their products with great customer service. Borla and K&N. The FIPK kit I ordered had a hole rubbed in it by the wire clip. K&N promptly sent out a new filter and silicone adapters. The Borla was missing the front short piece of pipe, about 26 inches long and a call to them yesterday and it will be shipped. I commend both of these companies.

I know, I love the sound and was very impressed with the quality. Anyway I didn't have that front short piece that they showed in the instructions, but the system fit fine without. I had to remove the muffler without cutting, b/c if I cut it I would have needed the pipe. But removing a muffler without a sawsall (aka - removing it properly) wa hard.

Hey Drifter and Captain:
Do either of you guys have a sound clip with the Borla ss system??? I am really interested in this system but I have never heard a sound clip of it...also, what kind of tips do you have? I usually just like the regular slash cut tips - thanks

I've had my Borla system on for about a year and a half, and i love it. I wanted something that sounded good but not to loud, and the Borla is just that. Just one thing, after you run your truck for a few weeks, crawl back under the truck and check all the bolts for tightness. Mine were ok, but I have heard of a few cases when the heat cycle of the exhaust has loosened a few of them up.

Captain Winsdor - I've had my borla for about 2 months. The split rear system I got came with the round slash cut intercooled tips, little more then the basic looking but nice. Sorry I don't have a sound file for you, but I don't have any cabin drown. If I drive with the window down and radio low I can hear that deep bubbling sound when I downshift. The system is quiet and a deep sound at idle, but can be heard when you get on it.
It was a very pricey mod, but well worth it in my opinion. So far I like it better then all my other mods. But I have my superchip and electric fan waiting to be installed.

My brother put a Borla system on his 1999 Mercury Cougar and has been very impressed with them. From what I've read, the same level of satisfaction can be seen with Ford trucks. So now I'm thinking that I might look into adding the Borla dual-exhaust kit to my SuperCrew, but was wondering if any of you could give me a good estimate on how much it would run me. Thanks!
