I had the same thoughts a few months ago. I went with the Flowmaster 40 series and LOVE it! It sounds about as close to a V8 as u can get. It has a nice mean idle sound... and at crusing speeds... it just howls. Very Nice. I did a 1 in 2 out. And I had them come out the back instead of the sides. It just looks alot better. And when I first started my truck up... man... I about creamed my pants. =D Driving home was a bit of a challenge. I couldnt stop spinning the tires. Needless to say... I got home and spent more money on new tires!

I bought a kit from JC-Whitney part#07NB1125X $165. Include muffler with dual outlets. They can go straight out the back or each side. I had to cut 1 side to clear the spare. It is built by Arizona Exhaust. Alumized pipes. It is not too loud, but nice hum, much better than stock. It roars when you get down on it. I went to a buddy to weld it up and weld on the 3" tips I had the angled to the corners (didn't want exhaust blowing in my face when I hitch up my boat)

Thumbs up

If you want more low end power go with Gibson or Midas, if you want it real loud go with the Flowmaster 40 series like I did single in dual out sounds very much like a v8. The flowmaster 50 and 70 series are also good but are not as loud as the 40. The power gain is more mid range with the flowmaster so you will lose a little low end power.

I just today, had my local exaust shop put on a 40 series flowmaster. I had the stock muffler with the pipe ahead of the rear tire. They put on the muffler, put on a new 3" pipe exiting behind the tire, all for $150! Does this sound like a good deal? I looked at several cat-back systems, but put it off because i didnt want to mess with it. I stopped in at 9:30 am this morning, with no appointment, and rolled out at 10:15! Amazing huh? My point: probably just as cheap to take it to a shop and have it done as it is to do it yourself.

Question

Adamk97,

How do you like the sound on your V6? I also have a V6 and was told to Magna Flow would sound deeper. It doesn't sound deep. It sounds loud, kinda like a Beretta. Weak!

I want the 350 "deep throaty sound". Is the 40 series giving you this?

Also, whats the airbox mod you did? I'm a rookie, so if you don't mind, please explain.
