flowmaster 40 series is the loudest, but there is a company out there called IMCO that uses the same technology as flowmaster and is a lot cheaper. i would go with some stainless steel IMCO mufflers, but you might have to contact them to find out where to get there stainless mufflers. www.grabthepower.com. to get it deep out the back you should get some big and long tips (ie magnaflow has 4"x22" tips). i would make sure to get stainless tips otherwise you will have to keep them polished or they will rust quick. to also get it loud you could replace your 4 factory cats with 2 hi-flow magnaflow cats. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...926289655&rd=1
to get the loudest possible you'd need to run a true dual setup with 2 si/so mufflers or just straight pipe it.

I agree. Just installed some Magnaflow high-flow cats and a tru-dual Magnaflow setup with an x-pipe.

It's really loud at any throttle opening at all. Nice rumble at idle, too, but just a slight touch of the throttle wakes it up.

to get the true duals; i'm new to like how exhausts are set up and everything...... so the 2 go into the y-pipe and continue into 1 cat to the rest of the tailpipe....i guess....

to get true duals u gotta scrap the y pipe and get another cat and tail section???? and magnaflow is the one's to go w/ cat wise.....still clueless could you just tell me like what "parts" i would need for the true duals.....thanx people....

I am most likely going with Ravin (www.goravin.com) do to its deep, loud exhaust note. Yes Flowmaster is loud, but the exhaust note is very generic. Everyone runs Flowmaster and to me, the sound has got tiresome.

The IMCO listed above is also a great alternative and slightly different design to Flowmasters chamber design. I have heard them and they give a nice deep note as well.

Magnaflow isnt very loud at all in my opinion. I ran their loudest setup with dual out rear on my 03 5.4L. Great quality sound, but not loud at all.

Another choice for a seriously loud muffler is Spintech. They have a very unique loudness, but are very loud none the less.

p.s. just as a note, I am going with a front side exit exhaust, like the lightning.

What muffler did you use? I've heard some pretty loud Magnaflow mufflers on some other vehicles.

There is a relationship of muffler canister volume to sound pressure level. The smaller the canister, the louder for the same design. The louest would be dual straight pipes coming out the side.

Your cats are before the y-pipe, up closer to the engine, so they remain where they're at, one pre-cat and one cat per side (or just one cat per side if you replace the factory ones with high-flows).

For duals, the y-pipe is removed, and you just run each side's exhaust independently. So you end up with two smaller mufflers (one per side) instead of one larger one.

The pipes should connect somewhere, with with an H-pipe (goes straight across, joining them) or an x-pipe (each side crosses in the "x")to balance flow. This helps performance and the sound quality.

Just don't get too crazy with pipe diameters. A single exhaust will have 3-inch tubing. Duals really only need 2.5-inch tubing per side. Unless you are running crazy power levels, then things change...

the first one is where you cut the y-pipe out. the second one is a bassani true dual setup for a lightning w/an x-pipe, which balances out the flow.

can you add lets say... some magnaflow hi-flow cats onto an already existing flowmaster force II Dual out the rear cat back exhaust? or is that just one high flow cat since i have the flowmaster catback exhaust already? I'm just trying to make the sound more agressive! THanks!

i went with a 2.5" true dual setup on an 03 f150 5.4l with flowmaster 40 delta flow and lost all kinds of low end torque, but it just moves up in the rpm's. i personally would go with 2.25" on a true dual setup, which im doin in about a week. an x-pipe would also be helpful to balance flow and give you some back pressure, but it quiets it down just a little.

ive got a buddy here at school that on his '02 5.4,he ran true duals off his stock cats (2.25" pipe), all the way outthe back with BIG 6" tips, no mufflers. Got it done for around $210. Its got a sweet rumble at idle/low rpms, but it is very loud and mean sounding when the motor is under load. Little pop and crackle too, which i love.

Im getting that setup done this summer only with magnaflow hi flos and 3.5x5 inch tips. Should wake my 4.6 up a bit from my current cut out muffler/dual tailpipes.

I asked the guy at the exhaust shop for their loudest deepest muffler. All I know was that it was really small.

Part of the reason it wasnt very loud might have been due to the exhaust setup that I had:

Probably had an off road x-pipe with Ravin Z33's. That would be an awesome sound!
