Post headers

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE INSTALLING AFTERMARKET HEADERS ON THEIR F150. I HAVE A 97 EXT. CAB, SHORT BED WITH A 4.6 ENGINE. I ALREADY HAVE INSTALLED A K&N FIPK, BORLA EXHAUST, JACOBS ELECTRONICS WIRES, JET CHIP, AND SOON WILL BE INSTALLING A BBK 75MM THROTTLE BODY. I'M CONTEMPLATING BETWEEN EDELBROCK AND BORLA. ANY HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

I installed Motorsport Stainless Headers (by Borla) on my 94 Bronco 5.8 and 95 F150 5.0. IMHO, it was a waste of money. I noticed only a slight power improvement in the high RPMs and no improvement in economy.

BTW, I also had K&N filters and Flowmaster exhaust. Sounded great, but don't expect great perfomance as the advertisements lead you to believe.

On my 97 5.4, I only put a cat-back exhaust and will keep the cast exhaust manifolds. I don't have to worry about blowing gaskets, as with the headers, and don't have to worry about re-torquing the bolts.

If you decide to go w/ headers anyway, go w/ a high quality gasket set, and use stainless steel grade 8 locking header bolts. They stay put and don't require retorque.

good luck w/ your decision.

Stephen Colandrea,

On the contrary, I have headers on my 93, and that was the second to last add-on that I added before the K&N, and I noticed a big difference in acceleration, and off-course noise. I was very satisfied with the purchase
