starting to rust inside tail pipes

Post starting to rust inside tail pipes

i had # 70 series flowmaster installed a couple of weeks ago,both tail pipe tips on the inside are showing rust,should i take it back to the shop were i got it installed?

If you paid for SS, Yes.

If you got aluminized, No. Aluminization will do well on the exterior piping. I doubt it was aluminized on the inside. Even so, inside the pipe it is subject to chemicals and chemical reactions that it will not withstand.

Isn't there a paint or something like that, that you can use on the inside of the tips to stop the rust from forming ????? I had a set of dual tails on my '87 and they did that too but never really worried about it. Had heard about this paint idea after it was gone.

I was told to put WD-40, or was it rust inhibitor (I don't remember), on the inside of the opening of the pipes. I haven't noticed any rust on the inside, its the rust on the outside that is making me mad.

I was told to put wax on the outside of my tips and tailpipes to keep the rust off. So far it works pretty well!
