Lightbulb Cut out the "cat"

Anybody think of bypassing the "cat" and going straight to a series 50 Flowmaster ?
Ya...I know it's illegal to cut the cat.

Or...I've heard of people destroying the insides of the cat (jaming a broomstick through the honeycomb internals).
They tell me the H.P. increase is serious.

I'm tempted...

I jammed a metal rod through all 4 of the cats on my 90 LX 5.0 I had. The HP increase was not serious, and todays cats are much less restrictive than they were a couple years ago.

OA: I would not suggest that you do that without some serious thought first. (and a few hundred bucks saved up to get you running right again) The OBD2 systems which control the engine and transmission functions rely on the O2 sensors that sit in front of and behind the cats. These sensors constantly compare readings between themselves and make mixture and spark adjustments based in part on that data which is gathered. Deleting or destroying that link will probably make that "serious HP difference" that you are seeking, but in the wrong way. Please think this through first, ask around before doing it. As usual, my .002......j.b.
