Highway Noise
I recently installed Gibson Super Truck exhaust on my 97 XLT with the 4.6 V8. The side exhaust was too loud. I then installed duals run out the back. Sounds great, but I get a drone sound or resonance sound inside the truck in overdrive at around 1800RPM. If i speed up or slow down the sound goes away. The noise is too loud at this speed just inside the cab. Anybody have this also or have any answers? thanks Keith
Just to let you guys know, I removed the Gibson and installed the DynoMax Super Turbo and it was the right thing to do. Not only does it sound better, there is NO interior resonant sounds. There appears to be more torque also. Don't buy the Gibson if you're the least concerned about too much noise. You'll love the DynoMax. I waisted too much money on the Gibson. The DynoMas installed was $100. Life time warranty.
was it the super truck or the swept side gibson.

It was the super truck. It had two pipes exit in front of the passenger rear tire. The pipes were side by side, just a couple of inches apart. I came with two rectangler tips. Once I decided I didn't like all the noise, I ran two tail pipes from the muffler to the back bumper. It helped some, but still to loud at times, and there was the dreaded highway drone. The DynoMax muffler is about $ 60 dollars, and the Gibson set me back $ 250 dollars. Keith
