Dynomax on a 4.2L V6...it sounds decent
Hi All,
Well I finally bit the bullet and put an aftermarket exhaust on my Truck. It is a Dynomax , single in dual out with 2 1/4" PIPING and 3.5" tips out 45 degrees.....and it sounds like a V8, at idle...rap it up about 1500 and it is definitely a V6,If there is any interest I can post the muffler number. It is quiet at idle and once you get up to 60-75, it is quiet, but there is a little drone. Get into 2nd and go about 40 and let of the gas and hear the exhaust rap back, it is so sweet..... So overall I am satisfied.

K&N Filter, that I think makes a heck of a difference on this motor.

wow! I'm reviving an ancient thread here!
My local exhaust guy offered a single muffler, dual out setup but I just couldn't do it. I want true dual.
So....... he showed me the "high shelf" setup.
Dynomax Glasspacks with 4 inch chrome slanted tips.
After everything, it's going to be about 600 bucks
He said it wouldn't sound "perfect" but I'd probably be pretty happy.

Why Hello There, Wes...didn't know you were over here. Congrats on liking the exhaust. All "6s" end up sounding good/throaty at idle...it is just when you put your foot in it that it goes bad...but glad you found a combo that seems to work for you.

Ok glasspacks was the wrong word, Dynomax Race Bullet mufflers.
Thats the shorter model... I have the longer, skinnier ones but that was the quickest picture I could get.
My baby. The tips are magnaflow 4 inch chrome slanted.
Sound is excellent at low-2500 RPMS. Loud as hell. Above that range you need to lay on the loud pedal to to keep the volume increasing, the V6 just doesn't move as much air as that system was designed to take.
Not that the sound is bad at all, just that in the highs I sound like a modded G35, not an F150
Once I get the AF1 intake I'll see if it helps. For now I'm really happy!

You'll be kicking yourself for not getting stainless when your chrome tips start rusting after 6 or so months.
